@ Karen
I have the same problem. Every time I get on the computer, I end up spending 30 minutes checking my email, feed reader, or blog stats. Therefore, I make sure that I do my studying before I do even a "quick" thing online.

Thanks,
Nate

I would agree with Elise, but not just Facebook. Once I get on the computer, it's usually hours before I get off. My advice would be to stay off the computer until you have finished studying. I used to take good notes in class and then type them up afterward (thus reviewing immediately) and then at test time, reading them over right before going to sleep helped get them lodged in my brain.

Facebook is probably one of the biggest study breakers. It's good to break up your time a bit and check it for maybe five minute max, but that 5 minutes normally turns to 10, 10 to 20, and so forth.

Poor motivation - studying becomes a chore if you don't know why you are doing it

Great points. Since most people don't have a lot of time to waste, it can be a challenge to stay on track. I know that many times I get sidetracked on a project and wasting time can be easy to do. :)

How about study-friends? Inviting a group of people together to study and then not getting any studying done!?

@ Jeffrey
You have an excellent point. Everyone studies best at a different time of the day. We need to figure out what our individual best study time is and then work our schedule around that.

Thanks,
Nate

I always found that trying to study between 2 pm and 3 pm usually resulted in a nap...and even if I made it through the material, I would have difficulty recalling it.

I guess my point is that if you know you are no good to study at a certain time of the day, don't try to plow through it anyway because you are just wasting time.
