Occasionally, I write reader question posts. In this type of post I ask a question, provide a short explanation, and give you the opportunity to answer that question in the post’s comment section.
Most college students are actively engaged in a never-ending struggle to keep their bank account numbers in the black. Earning money is hard enough for normal people, but the busy college schedule makes it even more difficult for students to find much-needed money.
How Have You Made Money?
Think back over your college career (and perhaps high school also). Were you a teaching assistant? Did you win scholarships? Or did you make your money some other way?
My Answer
To get the conversation started, I will share some of the ways that I make (or have made) money.
- Yard Work – I do some yard work for my neighbors which gives me exercise in addition to money!
- This Blog – Making money is one of the many advantages of blogging.
- Basketball Refereeing – Last basketball season, I worked as a basketball referee in a local 5th grade league.
- Website Design – I have also done a little freelance work designing Wordpress blogs.
Now it’s your turn. How have you made money?

Yard work, something I won’t think of. Mowing launs sounds like a small chore only little kids do.. But you could probably make some good money out of it!
Blogging, graphic design, and building simple web sites for friends and small businesses. Also I “speed up” people’s computers by removing spyware, adware, and viruses for a small fee. The little things add up.
