Another great way for college students to network is Twitter. This infamous blue website with its infamous bird and infamous fail whale is more than simply an outlet for chronic narcissism and celebrities: it can be a great way to meet professionals and experts that you wouldn't have met otherwise.

Networking is a must specially in college wherein support groups are essential. It makes it easier to get jobs or events just because of your acquaintance to someone. It is a lot fun since you get to meet new people and gain a lot of new perspective. Unfortunately, it is not innate to everyone. Some people are just plain charismatic which makes it a lot easier to network. Some people are not and the plain thought of introducing themselves to others are just horrible. Unfortunately, I am from the latter. The tips shown above are definitely useful. Another tip that I can give is to SMILE. Give a real one and not the smile from the nose or somewhere else. It makes you look more amiable and pleasing.

@ Iris Geffner - I agree that being yourself is very important. In fact, I almost included that on the list.

@ Jordan Williams - Great point about building trust!

its often said to build good relationships do stuff for each other, whether its a big thing or a small thing. You are more likely to gain a persons trust if they have you do something for you and you do some little thing for them..... just don't go overboard and use them.

Number 6. Enjoy and have fun when meeting people. Let your true self surface. That's what people will always remember. That's what makes you special.

@ Sudeep

It is good to hear from you again!

I completely agree that many (probably most) people forget the 80/20 rule. In fact, I often forget it myself. Writing this post was a good reminder to me to listen more and talk less.

Thank you for your comment!
