Book Review: A Heavenly College Education on an Earthly Budget 3

Buy A Heavenly College Education On An Earthly Budget on Amazon!Once a week I try to review some book related to college in order to lend some guidance to a field that has become completely overrun. So many people are writing test guides and college help books that it is easy to buy a product which is not useful and which will be occupying space on your bookshelf for years, mocking your bad judgment fasoo drm.

A few weeks ago, Mr. Martinson contacted me and asked me if I would review his new book, A Heavenly College Education on an Earthly Budget – Double Your Financial Aid – Double Your Degree’s Value. After looking at some of the book’s summaries, I realized this book would be a great fit for my readers at Debt-free Scholar. Not only does this book cover college finances, but it also includes valuable input on important topics such as college admissions, essay writing and interview skills Comipo!

Who is Lee Martinson?

While many college help books are written by college presidents, Ph. D.’s, or well-known professors, Lee Martinson stands out as he does not even have a college degree! You might ask then, “What does he know about college?!” Well, although it is true that he doesn’t have a degree, he does have some amazing credentials: he is fluent in two languages (English and Spanish) and he is a prolific reader 올드 팝송 mp3. In addition, he actually did start college, but, after his first year, he quit because of the socialist, godless attitudes he found at his particular college. Although there were better colleges he could have attended, he was not accepted at the few he knew of at the time. After leaving college, Mr. Martinson did not stop learning.  Instead, he became an autodidact – a person who learns through independent study.  Through independent study he has learn a second language, financial skills, and lots of unusual vocabulary Colosatron.

Solid Advice

This book is filled with solid advice for students considering college, applying for college, or even already in college. For example, when talking about choosing a college, he mentions a great way to recognize a good college:

Talk to ten students who are going to a college you are interested in, and are also taking the classes you are interested in, under the professors you are interested in 3 gi downloads like Hayate. The majority of them should love it there, feeling the excitement of the hunt in their studies, and (within moral bounds) being willing to do what it takes.

Using this method will help you recognize a college worth attending. In another section on college applications, he explains a good way to verify that a particular letter of recommendation was completed aws 키 페어 다운로드. It involves including a stamped and addressed envelope for the colleges to mail to you once they receive your letter of recommendation.  Using this method will enable you to know whether or not your letters of recommendation have actually been completed and sent.  Throughout his book, Mr. Martinson includes lots of solid, practical advice for today’s college student.

Informal Writing Style

The one complaint that I have for this book is the writing style Download Plutonium. I prefer a writing style that is m ore formal. In my opinion, this book has too many clichés and has a few possible grammar errors. In addition, Mr. Martinson’s writing is sometimes hard to follow – which is disappointing because he has important things to say. Overall, I would not say the writing style is horrible, but it is somewhat frustrating Download fedora 20.

Good Use of Facts and Stats

Throughout his book, Lee Martinson uses excellent facts and examples to back up his positions. For example, while explaining that college degrees are not always financially helpful, he cited a study which found that a startling 50% of employees with social sciences degrees are underemployed! He also does an excellent job of quoting important historical figures such as our Founding Fathers (George Washington, John Adams, etc.) and other well-respected historical people Download the old version of StickFighter. This use of statistics and quotations helps make his arguments stronger and gives his book a solid foundation.

Humorous

A Heavenly College Education on an Earthly Budget is certainly not a dry book. While reading this book, you will always be coming upon entertaining sections or funny jokes – in fact, I think the humor is slightly overdone. However, the humor is important because it keeps slightly dry subjects (such as financial aid) enjoyable Download Kitapro 5. For instance, while talking about the visualization learning method, he describes Albert Einstein as the “guy whose brain and hair were ahead of their time.” This type of wit keeps the book positive and up-beat while helping you better remember the subject.

Who Is It For?

I would recommend A Heavenly College Education on an Earthly Budget to anyone currently enrolled in or considering entering college. In addition, the tips and tricks in this book are especially useful for homeschoolers because the author is actually a homeschool father himself! However, although this book does have a extra help for home school students, the ideas presented in this book are useful for public or private school students also.

You may want to try “how to study in college”.
I haven’t personally read it, but my Dad salvaged his grades while getting his bachelor degree by using that book.

Most likely it’s the book by Walter Pauk; I’ll ask Dad when he gets back.
